AUDITION

Brian Sanders’ JUNK is seeking exceptional dancers for current and upcoming performances of URBAN SCUBA.

Audition Date: Thursday, August 13, 2026
Callbacks: Monday, August 17, 2026 (by invitation)
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Time:

10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

The studio will be available for warm-up beginning at 9:15 a.m.

About URBAN SCUBA

URBAN SCUBA is a visually striking, physically demanding performance work that combines contemporary dance, athletic partnering, suspension, and movement performed on custom-built found-object structures. Performers work both on the ground and in the air, requiring creativity, fearlessness, and strong collaborative skills.

We Are Looking For

• Strong dance and movement technique

• Excellent physical awareness and partnering skills

• Athleticism, adaptability, and performance quality

• Experience with aerial work, hand-balancing, or related disciplines is highly valued but not required

• Performers should be comfortable working at height and learning movement on custom apparatus

Audition

The initial audition will include:

• Choreography and phrasework

• Physical partnering with and without props

• Strength and movement assessment

Callbacks

Invited performers will attend callbacks on Monday, August 17, 2026 which will include work on aerial equipment and the company’s custom apparatus. Previous aerial experience is welcome, but performers with strong movement ability and a willingness to learn are encouraged to audition.

Contract Information

Paid rehearsal and performance opportunities beginning August 25, 2026, with touring and future project opportunities available.

What to Bring

• Form-fitting rehearsal clothes

• Knee pads and sneakers (recommended)
